Leisure & Facilities
The majority felt that there are many opportunities for leisure  activities in the village with a good range of clubs. “Yes” from  many Senior Citizens to the notion of a “Good Neighbour”  scheme to help those who have difficulty with household  maintenance etc.  The recent changes in organisation  of Nottinghamshire libraries  have led to concern in the village.  Meetings are taking place between library personnel and  volunteers and possible volunteer roles are under consideration,  as well as possible future use of library buildings.  Recent cuts to services have led to the forthcoming closure of  the public toilet on Church Road. The Parish Council are hoping  to include a new toilet in the planned refurbishment of the  Recreation Ground.
Action needed · Investigate possible volunteer roles in helping to maintain and  extend the library functions in conjunction with NCC Library  Services  · Explore possibilities and implications for wider community use  of the library building  · Ask the Parish Council to include a public toilet in plans for  the upgrading of Roberts Recreation Ground  · Liaise with churches and other voluntary groups to investigate  the formation of a Good Neighbour Scheme
Aims Maintain the Public Library facility in Burton Joyce and make greater use of the building Ensure availability of a public toilet at Roberts Recreation Ground Promote a good neighbour scheme
