Introduction
This document sets out the aims and hopes of the people of Burton Joyce in terms of the village’s development and direction over the next 10 years. The purpose is to provide interested parties with a framework, outlining the aspirations of the residents for the village, with realistically achievable objectives for the next decade.  “Hopefully the Village Plan will highlight progressive and future plans for all and the common good of the village.” The Village Plan Process was initiated in  the autumn of 2008, with the formation of  the Burton Joyce Village Plan  Committee., a group of volunteers,  supported by Burton Joyce Parish  Council and Rural Community Action  Nottinghamshire [RCAN]. Gedling  Borough Council’s Neighbourhoods  Grant gave a grant of £1,000 towards the cost of producing this plan. All age groups were consulted at two  separate events’ and in June 2010 a  questionnaire was distributed to all  households in Burton Joyce and returned  by 420 households, a response rate of  26%. In October 2010 approximately 38  residents attended an “action planning”  event to take forward the findings of the  consultation. The approach adopted was  to ensure that all residents would have a  voice about major issues.
